Ponder this question: When you're on a plane, do you prefer to have no access to the internet or have to sit next to a talkative stranger? In an era where we spend most of our time glued to our screens and not having internet connection can make most of us break into a cold sweat, the answer seems obvious. But is it really? How many of us favor hours of conversation over online connectivity?

There's a gap between what travel buyers believe travelers want from overnight stays and what travelers actually seek. RoomIt and GBTA recently launched a survey to identify what is making up this gap, and why it doesn’t seem to be going away. Unsurprisingly, many of the misunderstandings identified in the survey were about how to improve compliance and traveler satisfaction.

For those who travel frequently, a good travel policy is essential to work-life balance and can be a key factor when determining whether to stay in a job or accept a new one. In fact, 59% of North American business travelers and 66% of Latin American travelers told GBTA that a company's travel policy is an important factor when deciding to take a job with a new employer.

Sometimes travel managers will look to systems integration services and/or analytics tools for help. But TMCs – like CWT – can actually be a better option.
