Every salmon season, after spending years in the North Pacific, salmon make a long and arduous journey back to Alaska’s pristine Bristol Bay—renowned as a mecca for salmon—to spawn. In parallel, there’s another journey that runs from Eastern Europe to Bristol Bay, Alaska; this time carrying the workers who’ll be fishing and preparing the coveted fish for their final destination around the world.

There's a gap between what travel buyers believe travelers want from overnight stays and what travelers actually seek. RoomIt and GBTA recently launched a survey to identify what is making up this gap, and why it doesn’t seem to be going away. Unsurprisingly, many of the misunderstandings identified in the survey were about how to improve compliance and traveler satisfaction.

Between anxiety over trade wars, a chaotic Brexit negotiation, and jittery markets, the global economy is expected to decelerate, but, the key is, it will remain above trend, which is helping to shield prices.

The use of payment methods other than corporate cards is a pain point for travel managers, travelers and Travel Management Companies (TMC) alike. For the former, it makes tracking expenses more difficult; and for the latter it means wasted time in filing receipts. For the TMCs, spending time on admin tasks doesn’t add much value for customers – so all round, a lot of wasted time.
